My student's first place

Boys and Girls Club had an essay/art contest on the theme "What I want for x-mas that money can't buy." My student, Favian, won first place! :-) He wrote "A world of impossibilities." And drew a bunch of weird stuff. Pretty nifty! :-)

Jungle Costume

Oh year... I wanted to add something. They changed the costume for Jungle! And I don't like it! I look like a park ranger!

What I really want

I would like someone to give me a basket full of goodies. A bunch of misc things that is me! :-P

Adding to my wish list:

1. Making Memories Trimmer with the self sharpening blade :-)

Training at Jungle

Today was my first day of training at the Jungle Cruise. My trainer was Deane. I had fun, sleepy, but fun. The people there were really nice. Lots to learn, but not too bad. I just need to remember some terminology such as "Hit it Skip!" and "Dock it Skip!" Also, I need to put together some sort of spiel. They have pre-selected ones that I should choose from. I have to really remember where the derail tracks are. Because if I don't keep my boat at a constant speed, the boats can derail and I will float away! :-P I have more training this Sat! :-)

Today....

So I found out that today that I will be working on the Jungle Cruise!!! YaY!!! :-)

Went to the mall today, circled around two rows a couple of time, looking for parking. Just when I was half way going up an aisle, I saw a car in the front pulling out. So I raced, but not too fast because there were a lot of people walking down the aisle, to get the spot. Just when I got really close and lady in her SUV decided to turn in against the aisle for the same parking. Well, when the car pulled out, I went right in. The lady honked at me and was all angry at me. I just looked at her and pointed out that it was one way and I got the right of way for that spot. Plus I was not about to wait for her to take forever trying to turn her SUV to get the spot.

Also, I was leaving Target earlier. I see a dad, playing with his baby, who was in a car seat type of thing on top of a shopping cart. Thought it was cute. But in his hand, he was holding a cigarette!!!! Right behind him, was his wife and what looks like a three year old girl. Gee... great parenting... giving your kids second hand smoke.

Stupid people.

Black Friday and Orientation

This morning I decided to go to Staples around 6:40. I figured that it won't be busy and I also wanted to get a compact flash card for me camera. Nope, there was a line, not huge, but a line. All of the compact and SD memory cards were gone. :-(

Went to orientation. There were about 32 of us. Only 6 of us were going to attractions. One guy is going to Haunted Mansion. :-( I wanted to go there. Oh well. Orientation was long and boring. We ate sandwich at the closed Eat Ticket. Not much choice there. :-( I was put at Indy/Tarzan's Tree House. Art the trainer coordinator called me later saying something about my attractions, so I have to call him the next morning. I wanted to go to Jungle. :-( Oh well, that just means that I don't have to loose my voice! :-P

Job Fair

So yea.... did the teacher job fair thing today. It kind've sucked. Every single districts gave me the same answer: We don't need multiple credential right now. The market is tight. That I should sub. Blah Blah Blah. Especially since I tell them I have had my credential for a year. I noticed that the majority of the people there were graduating next month. And the districts were just giving them big smiles and telling them to apply. As Joe puts it, putting a show for them. ggrr...

My orientation is this Friday.

Rubberstamp Expo in Carson

I had fun and spent wayyyyyyyy tooooo much money! But I got a couple of needed items such as the scissors made to cut the mounting foam. I bought a bunch of unmounted stamps, they were sooooo cute!!! I also got this nifty thing where its like watercolor on paper where you can carry it anywhere and materials to blend color pencils. The make and take were fun.

The flower on the tag was actually made up of acrylics with holes drill into them that you can sew. You would use staz-on ink for the color. She also had them on her purse for design! Think outside the box! :-P The other one on the bottom right was actually made up of stamps! Isn't it gorgeous?!? The other one, on the bottom left, some lady did it. I can't do that!!! But so pretty!!! I have one more make and take to take a pic of. It's so nifty! But I'll post later! :-)

Family Night at Jordan Middle School

Today, the Fam. Lit and After-school program did family night together. It was ok. Except the jr. high school kids were pretty much a wild bunch. Had to stop them from getting into a fight. Get them away from food so the parents could get some. But arg!

SEI: Petalicious Class

I must say the layouts was very cute!!! I believe the object of the class was for us to think outside the page protector. At the beginning of the class, the instructor was going very fast. Which made it a bit hard to catch-up. They gave us a sheet of alphabet sticker at the very end, which was nice of them. They also gave us a card to get a free iron-on. I thought to myself, super! But the free iron-on was something I would even buy. Due to the fact that the design was a bit outdated to me. I saw ladies going to the booth while I was look at it, also felt the same way and did not bother to take it.

Well, like I said the layout had us thinking outside the page protector. On the outside was a flower and each petal was a page. The foam stickers was on the page protector. The other set of layout was pretty basic. They wanted us to add an extra mini album to the layout so we can fit more pictures. You just have to cut the page protector.

The only pictures I have posted are page 1 and 2. There is another set of layout. Like I said, it was pretty basic, so there was no point in posting. I just had to show-off the petals! :-)

Stictly Tent Sale

My LSS Strictly, had their annual tent sale this weekend. I went on Friday so I can check out the deal first. I dropped a good $45 there. The only big thing I bought was a cartiage to my Design Runner. But I went there today because it was their last day of the sale. So I expected a super sale. And everything was 60% off!!! A roll of stickers cost $1, so I go like 27 rolls. After everything, I spent another $50, doh! I really, really, really need to stick to a budget and not spend sooooooooo much! What to do? What to do? They keep coming out with more and more cute stuff!!! ACK!

This was a project from Junkitz: Junk up your album. The cover is the one that has the word "dream" on it. The top picture is the back page. It was a cute project. Every single page consist of chip boards. Three long chip board and one short chip board. We covered both the front and back.

This was a nice project for the cost. Sort of brownish. But I still like it. :-)

Borat

Saw Borat the other day. It was funny! I wouldn't say it was the most funniest movie ever. But funny! :-) I do recommend you to see it. But if you get offended easily, don't. :-P

Rusty Pickle: One Fine Day Accordian Album

This was a class I actually signed up for, instead of doing the teachers pet. But it is a cute little album. I don't mind signing up for their class again. It was a good price and it looks nice.

I'm sorry that the picture is sideways. I have not idea why it is doing that.
The color combination is really nice. It works! Who whould've thought of using red, yellow and brown?!? The tags were pre-dipped in walnut ink. The page with the three hanging tag is a cute idea. It was also dipped in walnut ink and we glued some words on it. We used fabrics as ribbons, there were one actual ribbon. I like it but it bugs me to see the fraying ends of the fabric. I guess I am pretty anal like that.

The quote says: "Enjoy the little things because one day you'll look back and realize they were the BIG things!" Nice quote.

Make and Takes

The makes and takes were ok on the convention floor. There weren't many makes and takes but I did some in my little time I have to shop. The first one was from a store (can't think of the name). We made a Halloween card using quickutz. The next one was from another store. They have been selling ribbons for years, before scrapbook became so popular. They got sucked into the hobby. But the make and take was pretty and the ribbons were really cheap! The Halloween paper was from another company. Basically we worked with glitter and it came out nice. I have to use glitter more often. The last one was from Lickety-Split. Cute summer/pool layout. The flip flop was made from foam. :-)

Sorry this is not much of a post, but I wrote a nice long one and orgnaized it to look neat. Then I accidentally delete it somehow. Doh! I have a couple more make and takes to post, later on. And I will eventually post the reviews of classes... as soon as I finish the projects.
