I met Eric Carle today!

I picked Nate up this morning and drove the lovely 405 freeway to UCLA...Found the Register book where Eric Carle was going sign books. Soooo.... I stood in line for about 30 min. Bought a book.... only to be told that he was signing merchandise only. DOH! The booth that was selling merchandise was far. I was told that he will sign books at a different signing, at a different booth. So, I decided that I would take a picture with him. I noticed that they were not allowing this. So (yes, another so... just imagine me rambling... after all, this is a blog), I got out of line and sat down in the tent because Nate was still waking up and we were standing in the sun. A nice lady came and sat next to me. We chit chatted for a bit. People came up to thanked her for her wonderful husband. She was Eric Carle's wife. :-)
So... I walked around a little. Found the Target booth. Went and got some food.... then decided, to hang out in the area. Found out that (around 12:30ish) people were starting to line up for the Eric Carle signing. So I said screw it, bought some books and waited in line for about 2.5 hours. But, I was able to meet up with my sister's friend and got my be-lated Christmas present from China. A Hello Kitty keyboard and mouse! Woohoo! And some really nifty cross-stitching patterns and a cute skirt. While waiting in line, the ladies in front of me scrapbooks! What are the odds. :-P

So.... once it was time, we were told that Eric will only sign one book per person. I had three (The Very Hungry Caterpillar). DARN IT! But I said... well I am a person and Nate is a person, so that is two books. The lady in front of me volunteered to take my other book. :-) So I got all three books signed... two regular hardback (I plan to give one to my school's librarian) and one pop-up book. Due to time and stuff.... Eric wasn't able to write "to Tran." :-( Oh well...

And Nate has own copy of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Board version. :-)
