Carson Stamp Expo

Today I went to the Carson Stamp Expo to watch the man above demo. That's right, Mr. Tim Holtz! Plus he had new CHA release (stamps) for the show. Thought the four canvas were pretty spiffy...
Love the bird houses! See the hinges on the bottom of the house? The brick and wood-look are from his embossing folders!
Pretty tags!
Ideas for the bird cage die.
Learned a few stuff and ideas...
1. If you have the mover and shaker die, the one where you put a magnet key hole in the middle, you will need a foam (call Sizzix). Apparently, if you don't put the extra magnet die in the middle and wanted to do a plain cut, you will have a tough time taking the paper out (aka: it will rip). Apparently, when you punch, the paper will get stuck. The magnetic foam will prevent that from happening.
2. You can "mix" distress ink. Meaning, if you take your tool with the pad, tap it in a yellow distress ink and a blue distress ink (all on one pad), you can make green (well, duh! That's what happens if you mix yellow and blue). What makes it great is that you can mix on one pad and the ink won't cross-contaminate.
3. The foams are washable :-)
4. Use the distress reinker to paint... like watercolor!
I asked Tim about the grunge quilt. He wrote in his post that he won't do it again. His reason... it takes FOREVER to prep, since people have to make it exactly like his. 90 kits = 3 weeks of prepping (8 hrs a day). I was sad... but he said he might do an on-line class and make a kit available. So I was happy. :-)
