CSUF's 50th

Today was Cal. State Fullerton's 50th anniversary. I was working the Children's Art Camp booth, doing a make and take of a cute mini-scrapbook. I'm teaching a cute technique: painting acrylic on transparency. But even at a function like this where it was gear more towards kids, adults can be pretty pushy! I had 5 ladies at my table working away, another try to push her way in. But I pretty much ignored her. Well... I told her what I was doing and that she needs to wait until someone finishes. But once she kept pushing and trying to squeeze her way in, I ignored her. At the same time, there were three other ladies who would not wait either. They started grabbing at my ribbons, transparency. I did not want to be rude and tell them no. But I did tell them that I can only work with some many people at a time if they could please wait. Did they listen? NO?!!?!? So I ignored them, and getting very annoyed that they are still grabbing. But couldn't deal with them since I was helping five ladies put their mini-book together. My sister just happened to be there and saw that I was getting annoyed. My sister told (in an angry way that she is pretty good at) they don't need to grab stuff and they need to be patience. They in turn told her that "they know what to do." I think after my sister gave them the evil eye, they waited (which wasn't a very long wait). When it was their turn to make one, my sister heard them commenting "oh, that's how you do it. I didn't know." GGrr... rude people!

Ok... now on to today! I got there by 8:15 with Joey. There were lots to set up. :-) I was making mini-scrapbooks, Maria was making origami boxes, and Melanie was doing fish printing. From the sounds of thing, our booth was a hit. People loved our projects and they loved the fact that it was crafts. :-)

I walked around and checked out the scene. I got my alumni tag and pin. Me... an alumni! Woohoo! :-) The ROTC had a rock wall... so Joey and I had a race. I won the first race by a long shot! :-P The second race was very close but Joey won. Boy are my arms tired!!! I bet you, I will be very sore tomorrow!

Lots of people hit our booth. It was a great way to advertise the camp. People loved the projects. Also, Sara and Julia was there to help out too! And they were a great, great help!!! Tony came by later on to help a bit also.

We took a break and went bowling for free in the student union. I loved the fact that it was free! Woohoo! I found out that the new student rec center will have a rock wall and bouldering!!! Plus since we paid for it with out student dues, alumni will have complementary months based on how long we went to school. So I am going to take advantage of the wall!

I went and got a school ID. It is a new card with a start on it. Instead of saying alumni, it said Extended Education. Since I am taking a class... so I wonder if that means that if I join any association/club and go to conference, I would only pay the student rate?

Overall... it was nice... it was fun. :-)
